Amy is the Director and Owner of The Yoga House and also Director and creator of The Shala Institute of Yoga. She is  excited to bring Yoga Awareness to the Lakes Region Community and  believes in the Power of Yoga and how it can transform your life. The process of un-doing and the process of uniting as a whole integrated being. Yoga awakened Amy in a way that made her stir from the inside out and this stirring became one she could no longer ignore. Amy began her first Teacher Training Program with Edlely Wallace only 4 months into her practice, and she soon realized the power of the path and her deep desire to share with others. Taking a leap, Amy began teaching only 9 months into her practice, realizing she did not know everything-but what she did know she had to share. She has studied extensively with Baron Baptisite, Shiva Rea and owes her foundation to Edely Wallace of the YogaMatrix. Amy has recently completed the 500 hour Teacher Training program with Tias Little, and has had the opportunity to assists Tias in  several training sessions in the US. Tias and his wife Surya are Amy’s primary teachers. Amy has accumulated over 1000 hours in her years of training and continues to study and devote herself to the depth and knowledge of the Yoga path. Knowing the training will never really end, she embraces all there is to learn, and there is to share.

Annie Beckwith first became interested in yoga back in college after reading Richard Hittleman’s 28 Day Plan to Yoga. Over the years she has dabbled in a variety of yoga classes though never fully committing to the practice. It wasn’t until she stumbled upon Amy’s Vinyasa class at the Ballroom in Harrison did she begin to understand the benefits of a strong physical practice. Being athletic by nature, the strong physical  challenge of the flowing asana class appealed to her. However, it was the benefits off the mat of developing strength in body, mind, and spirit that made Annie keep coming back. She has been attending weekly classes with Amy ever since and is grateful for the positive impact yoga has had in her life. Annie  has also participated in a variety of Amy’s workshops over the course of four years and is excited to continue to deepen her understanding of the practice through the 200 hour teacher training program at The Shala Institute. Annie looks forward to teaching and learning with the ever growing yoga community here at The Yoga House in Bridgton.

Sagel Urlacher One of the most life-altering steps I’ve ever taken was the one that landed me on the yoga mat.  The extraordinary journey of Yoga deeply nourishes my body, mind, and spirit. Performing asanas, training my breath to follow movement, and bringing my mind home to the present moment inspires me to carry balance, strength, attention, and peace from the mat into each day.  I believe Yoga’s possibilities for personal transformation are limitless.  As a long-time educator with experience in the healing arts, I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to be guided by Amy’s teachings and to learn and share the yoga journey with students.  An especially beautiful thing about this Practice is that anyone can do it and everyone can benefit from it …I look forward to seeing you in class!

Nichole Gould began exploring yoga at the age of 16 from a book she found in her Mother’s personal library.  Being predominately self taught, Nichole was able to transfer the physical attributes of yoga over to her love of snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding and rock climbing. In 1998 Nichole was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and once again turned to yoga for its benefits. This is when Nichole felt a shift from the physical rewards of yoga to a stirring deep inside her heart and soul. Acknowledging the internal shift of her practice Nichole decided she wanted to share these discoveries with others. Nichole is currently pursuing her Yoga Teaching Certification and is inspired to dedicate her life to the continued learning and sharing of yoga and all of its healing aspects. Nichole is a single mother living in the Mount Washington Valley area working towards bettering her life and her community.
